Biography

Born on the edge of the Carrion Canyon, Zuriel set out on his Search earlier than advised by his parents, who ultimately knew they could not stop the spunky young guardian from finding his charge if he so desired it then. Being made of little patience, Zuriel soon grew tired of his Search. He feared never finding a suitable charge. At the end of an exhausting stint, he found himself languishing on a hillside with no energy to continue for at least a few miserable days. The day was windy, and the terrain lush with grass and flora. In one languid blink of an eye, Zuriel watched a daisy tear from its roots and drift closer. In retrospect, he tried to talk it up as something more than it was. But the plain truth is that Zuriel felt for that little daisy, and he snatched it from the breeze before it could be carried away from him. As insignificant as it seemed, he had found his charge.

Not long following, he came upon two mirrors in the wilderness while hunting for some lunch. His spirits were high; he struck up conversation. The slate female interested him. He found her gentle nature something of a rarity, considering all mirrors he had met previously. Her companion, Dio, would take some work. With Lielle and Dio as partners in crime, Zuriel fell into the throes of protecting his charge. He knew that no matter where he chose to settle, the delicate petals and stems of the daisy would never survive long. He spoke with mages, shop owners, and any guardians he met in travel, seeking a way to preserve his precious treasure. The answer came from an apprentice alchemist, of all things: a fae, covered in blue circuits and donned in all golden gems and jewels, called Murdock. The tiny fae devised a solution of sap and other "somethings and stuffs" which enclosed Zuriel's daisy in a protective coating nearly impossible to detect after it fully set.

Charge now secured, Zuriel wrapped the flower with some strands of soft silk for safekeeping. Murdock joined the group in their hunt for someplace nice to vacation a while. After finding the cold of the Snowsquall Tundra a suitable fit and making home there, Zuriel stumbled over expressing his feelings for Lielle until he brazenly handed his charge over to her for safekeeping.

Zuriel has fathered six hatchlings. All of them sought to serve the Icewarden shortly after maturing, much to the pride of their mother and father.

Calling on the time he spent brawling in his Search, Zuriel finds great enjoyment in hunting and sparring. He collects chess pieces, always seeking the most elaborate of white king and queen pieces, though he is also fond of rooks. If his opponents ever surrender pretty things, he presents them to Lielle in a neverending quest to gift the most perfect trinket.

Thanks largely to his stature and weight, Zuriel walks with heavy booms. The pattern of his scales and lines of sharp spines along his body give him an intimidating presence. Though, even strangers after initial shock testify that he is no more than a giant with a gold heart.
