Details

Viola seems to have a different personality each time you talk to her, making it nearly impossible to get to know the true dragon underneath all the personas. If you can, though, you'll be relieved to find she truly does have a good nature despite her inclination towards deception. In her eyes, there's nothing wrong with conning a dragon out of their money if you need it more than they do!

Now that Viola can actually follow through on any claims of talent she makes, though, she's surprised by the rewarding feeling that comes along with helping out other dragons. She could get used to this...

History

Viola once found herself in many a line of honest work, but none of them were quite to her satisfaction. Her career as a weaver was cut short when the threads kept getting caught up in her massive claws. Her hips were far too uncoordinated for the life of a dancer. And peddling wares across Sornieth as a merchant felt...debase.

What she needed to do, then, was all too simple, and all too fair. She had given a good honest effort to the occupations she was qualified for... That left all the wasn't she wasn't.

A doctor. A metalsmith. An actress. An heir. Viola tried on the airs of occupations far outside of her abilities, collected the payment that these personas demanded, and fled the instant the money hit her outstretched hand. And yet the constant change in pace never felt disorienting to her. It's as if Viola herself changes when she assumes these parts, occupied by the ghost of career-workers past. The day her bluff was finally called came when she was all but forced to actually deliver a mural to a clan foolishly believing her merits as an artist. And yet, when she finally put down the brush and looked over the finished work, she had actually painted something quite wonderful. The clan even paid her extra. Oddly, when she tried to replicate the results again in the peace of her own time - nothing.

It was around then that the first fleck of sterling silver patched her tongue - a long line starting from the tip to her throat's entrance, as if the imprint of a finger. Assuming the role of an impoverished traveler, she guilted a doctor into taking her in. They determined that, besides the odd mark, nothing was wrong with her. Yet her careful eye watched the thing flicker larger in size with every further job she assumed, making a handheld mirror now a permanent part of her ensemble.

Time and time again, Viola finds herself too slow to dodge the tangible requests of her paying clients, yet when all is said and done she still somehow manages to please them. Once, when hired to be a glassworker, she did not, in fact, burn her hands beyond recognition when holding the glass flute, but rather gave it the practiced spin and force of a true artsmaster. Nobody had taught her how to swim, yet she managed to reach the very depths of a cave where a hatchling was held captive by the current.

The silver continues to grow with every lie, but nothing else about her has changed, so certainly there's nothing to worry about... Right?
