Biography

For a Gaoler Bylew is a very outgoing dragon, screw that, for a dragon in general. He has great social skill and the people are absolutely attached to him, saying he's very friendly and just fun to have around. On top of all that he's fit and young, imposing and leaves an impression on others, so much that Terra thinks she already knows who deserves her spot as leader some day.

Bylew had sworn to himself that he would never understand why dragons would bond with others in romantic ways. He had never met another Gaoler he'd do that with. His friends think he's just weird, or maybe wired differently, which to be fair, is probably true, because Bylew feels pretty weird. He's had plenty of acquaintances and is positive none of them would have fit with him, even though he got along with them just fine. So really, it has to be because he simply cannot bring himself to bond.

Then again, there are many moments where he wished there was someone on his side. Maybe someone to cuddle with at night, that would be nice. He'll cuddle his friends, but he misses the intimacy of it. This kinda love feeling that he still craves, even though he's never felt it before and only sees it in other pairs around him.

His friends have resorted to him having to be incredibly picky with his partners. There aren't many other Gaolers at the Cloud Cavalry that's the problem. Bylew on the other hand does believe that he must be picky subconsciously, although he has no clue what his taste is to begin with, he thinks he could settle for both the stoic attitude of Shirozmo who rarely talks with anyone out of spite or Gloom from the forest with her nerd brain for mushrooms. Only that she's out of the question anyway, being devoted to only the female gender, or so he thinks at least, that's her vibe.

And he knows other Gaolers, he's seen beautiful gaolers even more imposing than himself, and still that doesn't seem to rile him up enough.

It was Aelius who finally broke the ice when he was drunk again and asked if it HAS to be a Gaoler and hey he's available too. Bylew knew it was a joke, Aelius only had eyes for Prompto that was cleary visible. It's when he carried him home on his back that he felt something come up in his chest. Something that could be that soft feeling of love, and that he felt it before when he helped other dragons who seemed pretty helpless.

Bylew doesn't feel love when he sees someone he loves. He feels love when he can help someone.

The arrival of a Gaoler named SOLDAT with piercing neon eyes was a wild ride for everyone. First of all Terra was sure she would join the army with THAT name, which, they didn't really need more members but of course she could do what she wants. But apparently that was a miss-understanding, SOLDAT or Solda as she calls herself is anything but a warrior, more of a worrier really. She's... SO shy. She introduced herself to a big flock on the main place as all dragons do when they arrive here, and she only nearly died. She wouldn't look at anyone and when she did she would avert her eyes instantly, hide them behind her thick brown mane.

She didn't look special at all save for her eyes she shows no one. Bylew has a very bright Coat of fur, hers a muted brown, streaked with white and her constant fumbling with her face made it look frizzy. And on top of that she's shy and avoids talking to people in general. Bylew learned that most introverts would simply tag along. They still wouldn't say much but they would be there and listen, maybe throw in a comment. Solda looks like she absolutely does not want to be there. Head averted to the ground, stuttered laughs that sound forced out. But it's not because she doesn't want to be, it's because she's so anxious.

And that caused her to become an outcast pretty much instantly upon her arrival. Dragons thought she just wants to be left alone, left to herself. Some are like that apparently. A few bad voices even claimed she must think she's something better because they saw her doing just fine alone by herself. But Bylew could smell her fear. She would be forced to talk to a dragon and he could smell her against the wind, sweat that indicates her panic. Alwyn, an older male Gaoler said he could smell it too, after all it was very potent and Gaolers use their smell to communicate as well. Solda reeked of fear, not that it was disgusting it was just kind of screaming for help.

So Alwyn pulled the emergency break. She had only been here for a week and she looked more miserable day by day. Following her tracks one early morning even before sunset he finds her in her usual self care spot. The lake. there are never many dragons here, so she's alone to herself, the smell he picked up with is nose indicating that she was much more relaxed than usual. He knows better to not sneak up on a lady when she's taking a swim in the lake, but he guesses it need be. And also the lake is public domain, so it's not tooo frightening for her.

But oh lord it was. The wave of her fear oozing out of her as soon as she left the lake so hurriedly, her eyes shut closed for lack of bangs who cling to the back of her head. It's fine she was done anyway he could take a bath alone. Bylew approached er none the less when she started breathing heavily, not smelling of fear anymore but close to death. A panic attack. Bylew had no clue what to do in that case. Did she expect him to do something terrible to her? He told her he wouldn't, but she just shook her head, whimpering without breath before sitting down suddenly, breathing in deeply and carefully. Her chest heaving from air passing in and out.

He walked back a few steps. This was a bad idea, his presence sent her spiraling, maybe it was better when he left her be. He walked further away from her, what do you do in this case, do you just go? Do you try and help? But it was he that sent her in that state, he should absolutely go. He saw her glince up at him slowly as she still heaved without breath, her eyes scanning him for a brief second before shutting themselves again even harder as she keeps breathing harder a stiffled sob emerging from her throat.

Bylew felt his chest ache. Her sob sending a wave terror through his body that let his thick coat and fans stand on edge. And then determination, he shakes it off, shakes his fans flat before making his first step towards the absolutely, positively crumped gaoler gasping for air in front of him, tears already beginning to stain her brown fur under her eyes. And every step makes him more determined as he feels this feeling of love rising in his chest.

He crashes their horns together, a gesture that is usually used when greeting someone you don't really know all that well (and also for mating season but that's neither here nor there). The shock forced her eyes open staring briefly into his own. He pulls away again getting to his knees. Asks if he could help. She shakes her head, but calms down, her eyes searching for his again in something that seemed to be disbelief. Or maybe he hurt her by crashing into her so roughly. But she's breathing okay again. She swallows and shuts her eyes before letting a violent shake go though her body. She had never had that before she explains, it must be weird.

It is weird, is what Bylew agrees as he watches her get to her feet again, her white coat stained brown from dirt. She's teary eyed and back to her timid self, at least it's a step up from nearly dying. Bylew doesn't hold back though and gets to his feet as well, his bigger frame gently nudging her to the water. Time to wash up.

And she keeps staring at him with those big weird eyes, as he feels something shift and lock into place.
