A guardian with a tender but strong spirit, Soza’s Search ended almost before it had truly begun. The life she thought would happen with her first mate fell into disarray. He left, taking their two children to serve the Stormcatcher, as Soza always knew he desired to do. Their departure, while saddening, yes, did not devastate her, but caused her to think. And so she sat outside her new lair, still small and empty save herself, and pondered. Her Search became an internal struggle, and eventual realization. She cherished no outward thing, but the comfort and happiness of those around her.

A lofty Charge, certainly, but one she was prepared to enact, however she could, to the best of her abilities, as any Guardian would for their Charge. Collecting stores during the day in anticipation, and watching in the night, Soza waited her first chance to made good on her Charge. The one who eventually came brought pleasant surprise with him. A male Guardian who, rather than reject her wayward ideals, embraced them, and pledged himself to her efforts. Whether drawn to her ideals or something else, she didn’t know, and never asked, but accepted his company with gratitude. With Mordecai's steadfast guardianship over their home, Soza was free to turn all her efforts to those who wandered in, those who chose to stay and those who decided to go, it mattered little to her, so long as they each stayed or left contented.

In time, however, the little clan she called her own began to expand beyond her reach and influence. At the arrival of Uther, the band of fellows expanded drastically and soon a growing city sprouted from the calm desert, covering over Soza's initial lair, the place where her Charge had been found. With all these changes, leadership became impossible. Quietly, Soza drifted into the background of progress, though was never forgotten as the Founder of what became Thorim Rift, and was given the honor of official Matriarch in name if not in deed. This honor came with good fortune, and rather than allow herself to fall into depression, she had built a modest inn near the edge of the planned city. The Corner became a quiet haven for those in distress and in need, a place of comfort and peace tucked beside the bustle of Thorim Rift where Soza could continue to watch over her Charge.

Soza did not govern the small band of dragons, not in the leadership sense, but her calm and gentle demeanor, her willingness to listen and do what she can in many cases endeared her to the dragons who lived near her home. The respect most carry for her even now is liken to that of a mother, and she in turn cares for them as a mother would. Too wrapped up in other’s happiness, though, Soza often forgets her own, and can miss what is right in front of her. She enjoys Mordecai’s company most of all, and being the handsomely generous dragon he is, he will spend hours with her, in conversation or silence. Only she has yet to realize just how much she appreciates him. Or...perhaps she does.
