Exposed bone, black veins, and discoloured skin would usually be something to describe a monster. However, Abba is far from a scary being. In fact, he’s universally loved as the clan’s founding Incubator. All eggs taken care of by the Reach are also in his care. Checking the vitality of each egg sealed within it’s Amber, measuring growth of the hatchlings, and helping hatchlings adjust to the gifted mutations from the Reach are all part of his job.

Despite this, many outsiders are still left wondering how Abba can be so praised. His demeanor and attitude remains as scary as his looks, but those who are accustomed to him know that his mild irritation never holds any malice. If you were to ask the other Incubators, they’d just say he needs as much of a nap as the hatchlings in his care.
