The toydrake

A Handmade name is one lived up to.


A toymaker with a magic touch, who teases out a hatchling's scary thing and turns it into something that can be a friend instead.

It's not a simple process of handing over a premade plush. Each toy has to have its hatchie take part in its construction, with a lot of talking (or sometimes silence) over each step and choice of what goes into the doll. Worries, hurts, dreams and fears spin out into stuffing, and advice, reassurance, information and promise stitch into the covering.

When the hatchie leaves with their new toy it's with nebulous emotion given shape, unanchored concerns grounded, resolve given form, and reminder made present. ...And a sturdy, well-made toy meant to last.

(It's not one toy per hatchie, of course not. Fears don't come in one and none. Any hatchling can come back for as many toys as they want... as long as there's time.)
