Scrum

When the clan was founded, Scrum assumed the highest position of leadership, with Neige as his first lady, but he turned out to be a selfish, unstabile and powerhungry leader, who would often eat much more than the "lower" dragons, especially the females. It came to a halt when he commanded that every male dragon go and invade the next door clan, while the females submit themselves as his consorts. That is when Neige challenged him to a one-on-one combat for complete leadership, in which he was severely bested. She allowed him to stay in the clan, as long as he submitted to live by the same standards and expectations as everyone else in the flight.
Scrum retracted to the farthest off caverns of the lair and now lives there, smoldering angrily.

There, he initially just slept and wallowed in pity, but seeing how much the clan grew under the new leadership, he begrudgingly had to admit to himself that Neige was a superior leader. Even though he still craved the spoils he once had, he would have to learn how to adapt to this new situation. Scrum channelled his anger into studying magic in solitude for several years, only ever venturing out to stretch his wings. He got used to the safety in the cold dark caves. No one would bother him down here, and he preferred it this way.
When he heard the news of the Nocturnes rejoining the dragon world, he slowly came to the realisation that something was wrong. He had never really felt the need to search for a Charge, noticed how much more comfortable he felt in the dark and became aware of how much his enormous size was hindering him in moving around in his deep dark caves. He realised that this was what he needed to become. A Nocturne.
