"I hate this," I thought with no doubt clouding my mind. My ears had flattened against my head long ago, just as my clear, concise hissing began. I halfheartedly put one foot in front of the other as the dry, tall grass crackled beneath my footing. In no state would I be considered 'happy.' Did that word even exist? If I made it... It might...

With a bound, I leapt upon the prey. "GOTCHA!" I cried triumphantly. For once, my ears actually pulled themselves upwards. I clamped his teeth around the wide, circular object and placed my foot down on what my best guess was considering the location of its throat. Then I bit it. Hard.
"LET GO YOU IDIOT!" a voice roared, echoing across the plain. Birds took flight in the distance. Startled, I jumped backwards, my nostrils flaring and my wings spread wide, prepared to take flight. With my widened eyes, I peeked through the grass, and spied fur. Not just any fur but... I wasn't sure. How was I supposed to figure out what kind of fur it was? There was no way of telling. Until it moved. It was only a slight movement, but it moved. And then it moved more. And more. Until it grew. And it grew and grew and grew. Until it formed a shape. A shape of a dragon. But not just any dragon. It was only when it stepped out... No, leapt out, from the sun that it hit me. Hard. Very hard. So hard that the world turned black; something I never thought the world was capable of doing.
