Long ago a small high-ranking family of veilspun escaped their native home to go live in the frigid land of Ice. Hidden deep within the Fortress of Ends they lived for generations, losing their touch with their shadowy magic and roots as they had to adapt to the new living environment. Desdemona, the eldest daughter of the sixth matriarch was destined to eventually take her mother's place on the throne.

But Desdemona herself had other plans. She didn't want to rule or live her entire life inside the icy caverns, never seeing the sun. She tried to escape her home turned prison several times, always getting caught. But each time she got a little further. With each failure, she learned to be stealthier and more cunning.

Eventually, it paid off and Desdemona found her way out of the Fortress and paid her way out of the Southern Icefield too. Riding on the back of a friendly sea serpent, she found her new freedom. But then she was faced with, "what now?". She was out for sure, but what she should do now?

Almost as if it was faith, she heard about the Guild from the Sea Serpent. Taking his advice and joining it, this way she could get a chance to explore Sornieth, find a new purpose and leave behind her old life.

Oh and fall in love too.

The suit of Pentacles was going to have a presence in Desdemona's reading one way or another. Dealing with wealth and real-world physical nature, the Pentacles have put a heavy yoke on her, in the form of the throne she didn't want; but even as she renounced it, she carries the positive parts of the suit in her own solid, practical nature, manifested in the Knight of Pentacles. The Knight is methodical, detail-oriented and not afraid to put in the hard work that is necessary to accomplish the envisioned goal. It might have been slow, but the only way was through, and the effort paid off in the end.
