Biography

Korin Jural
Prior to The Great Exodus, Korin was the High Historian of the Tower of Sivril, his world's greatest architectural achievement but more importantly the hub of all of its knowledge and learning. Both library and museum as well as archive and reliquary, Sivril was the crown and throne of the city-state of Abregond making the seat of High Historian equivalent to that of a king. Korin and his father before him who founded the city and saw to the great tower's construction are of a very long-lived bloodline. As such, Korin is the only leader that many denizens of the city have ever known, though known mostly by name alone.

Abregond was remarkably self-sufficient as were the many working parts of Sivril's scholastic offerings, security overseers and resource management teams which kept the stressors of the city and tower's nature as a politically neutral trade hub from overwhelming him with the need for oversight of its functionality. Unfortunately, however, he would have gladly taken responsibility over any and all of those aspects if it meant not being trapped in the thankless, tedious and often hopeless role which was the only one left for him to fill: His duties have always been that of a political peacekeeper for the world, insofar as assuring its leaders of Abregond's compliance with its vow of neutrality. That surely would have been as simple as it seemed if not for the fact that its single-minded traveling scholars care nothing for the security threats their contributions are often seen as and worse yet, all trade negotiations involving general international policies and concerns being discussed exclusively within its walls.

For the role of High Historian having been intended as nothing more than that of the city's mayor with an emphasis on the management of its library and allocation of Sivril's physical acquisitions, Korin's account of what it actually is frames the reality with surprisingly little exaggeration: He has only ever been the powerless mayor, scapegoat and unqualified therapist for uncompromising diplomats only as capable of maintaining good relations between their countries as he is, by no fault of his own. That is to say... not at all.

Since arriving on Sornieth he has found relief that he has never known in being able to actually do the job that his old title asked of him and little more. Most of Sivril's record of his homeworld's history was lost in the Exodus and so he spends his days delegating scribing tasks to volunteers and recording his own contributions to the efforts of rebuilding a respectable library.

Long ago, he took it upon himself to unofficially adopt Enthelon (Eldanareth) as his own son at the behest of Enthelon's father who met his end at the hands of an assassin. The love and loyalty between them has never been in doubt but their communication has always left much to be desired. They are each spending as much of their time as possible acting on their resolve to bridge that gap for the first time in their lives. Korin acts as Enthelon's substitute in the clan council's matters during the times that he is away from their settlement.
