After years of wandering, Precious finally came into contact with Sir. Soon after that they met with Acid. For a long time the three hung out together, without any sort of expectation from each other. While traveling together, they met Named and Moon. Moon was heavily injured and Sir, being a healer, was able to help. Named swore his loyalty to the clan as Moon rested and recovered. After that, Poison joined.
Precious and Sir had two sons, Arcade and Skylight. Acid and Poison had sons as well, Malachite and Tourmaline. The clan grew from there, piece by piece, dragon by dragon. Precious had always been distant as a mother, and some of that transferred over to Arcade as well. He was the first to be exalted, wandering away after briefly discussing the issue with his father. The whole clan mourned the loss, with Precious even leaving for a month. Skylight, Tourmaline, and Neptune, son of Named and Larkspur, followed after Arcade after tasking poor Scapolite, child of Candy and DiphylleiaGrayi, to watch over the clan. It cannot be understated the pain this caused the parents of all involved. It's one thing for your hatchling to leave the clan. That's normal, and sometimes the hatchlings will even keep in touch with their parents. It's a thing to be proud of. Exaltation is, just the same, something to be proud of. But no one comes back from Exaltation and the hatchlings can never contact their parents and families again. They are long gone now. It's poor Scapolite I worry most for. Precious is old and hardened. Sir keeps his soft heart even as he mourns endlessly. Acid and Poison dedicate themselves to their duties. Named and Larkspur lean hard on each other, and celebrate their hatchlings with more intensity. Candy and Diph worry so much for their children, but poor Scapolite has resigned themself to only ever honoring and remembering the Exalted. There isn't much I can do for them, but every day I pray to the Arcanist that their way is guided. With Puppet, Nexus, and Goddess, things are a little different. You would know them from the Justice Hall, where they take care of our clan's judicial matters, should any arise. It is actually a newer area for the clan - in the past it was Acid and her second, Starshine, who took care of such matters. However, Goddess has a strong sense of justice, and so she took the job. Their story begins, again, with Precious. Her actions have unintentionally led to a clan tradition. Once they come of age, young ones leave home and travel the world. Some never return, finding clans of their own. Some return only to choose to return to the Gods and live in service of them. Others, like Puppet, return home with lovers and spouses. Puppet didn't expect just how powerful these particular wives were. The clan watched in silence, still trying to decide whether or not to trust these two new dragons, as Puppet lost his way. He had always been the type of child to follow without question, but it was a detriment to the three of them. Puppet seemed to slowly turn gray, losing the color of his own soul in favor of adopting theirs. He was inexperienced. . . Excuse me, it is a difficult story to tell. . . He was inexperienced in dragons and in love. Nexus and Goddess weren't much better, neither had ever been with a dragon that didn't have innate defenses against them. Nexus caught on quickly, but it wasn't until Puppet's loyal parents and friends nearly tore the clan in two with their decision to fight for Puppet that the two left. No one will speak of it, but it was a difficult fight. Acid, Precious, Named, Moon, Oceanside, and all the then-hatchlings stayed out of it with Asimar and Nike watching over them. Sir and Larkspur healed both sides, as is the way of healers. Starshine and Ragdoll enlisted the help of Sundae, Poison, Supernova, Beach, and, surprisingly, young Scapolite, who had a newfound hatred of the gods thanks to recent exaltations and dragged his parents and sister into the matter. Precious few fought for Nexus and Goddess - Puppet did, with all his strength, as did Champion, Meat, and Queenling. The weeks after were difficult. Puppet not only had to reclaim his own identity, but had to fight back his depression and the worry of his clan. Champion and Queenling were a great help then, although it was his parents that spend most of their time putting him back together. He left again afterwards, against Acid's wishes. His argument was that it was a new beginning for him, a new coming of age. I was inclined to agree and weighed heavily in his favor. I had no idea his plan was to return with his two lovers in tow, months later. I am happy for them, though. It has been a difficult time for us all, but Puppet deserves the happiness he fought so hard for, and Nexus and Goddess deserve a clan they can feel safe and welcomed in.
There are a few. . . shall we call them loadstones? . . . amongst the clan. For those of us that have been here from the start, it's Precious, Acid, Named, and those within the Justice Hall. Beyond them, Midnight and Sundae hold this clan together. [in progress] |
