Her mother and father loved her. Her mother and father supported her.

Though they were no Necromancers, nor born of blessed Plague, they encouraged her dream of joining their ranks, of serving the Plaguebringer as one of her most loyal Left Hand. They walked with her on the way to the border, though they could not risk illness by crossing into the Wasteland with her. They sent her with their love and well-wishes and knew she would be great.


And they walked home with her pestilent, Plague-infested body when she returned as a Ghoul rather than a Necromancer. Even though they knew they could not survive her infectious presence, they walked her home, soothing her as she sobbed at her failure, as she wondered why the Mother had rejected her.

• parents died not long after bringing her home
• she lived as a ghoul for a year, half-mad with pain and grief
• ran into Skitheryx, who neutralized her and planned to infect her with phyresis since she had no plague to defend against it at all
• she ran away before Skitheryx could infect her, and spent another two years as a neutralized ghoul, even more upset by being totally cut off from Plague
• ran into an unnamed Necromancer who'd been experimenting with neut ghouls and successfully turned her into a Mercy
