Magic and change had always fascinated him. There was this allure, this draw that pulled him in as surely as a fish was reeled in on a line. Yaazanya's attention was captured by magic when he was young. Maybe it was the poetics of his father (the book Mossheart wrote is kept on a mantle, a prized possession among many shining baubles) that inspired the mystism in his heart. Either way, he loved magic and longed to mold it with his claws.

His color changed and shifted through devotion to this magic, and through it he began to collect books. Not just on magic, but on poetry, on art, fiction and nonfiction--it was through looking for a rare book that he met Coralle. A "real, genuine adventurer!" (quote from Coralle) that captured his attention just as fiercely as his other passions.

It was not any small wonder when he asked her to be his, when he asked to do all he could to support her and she shot back, with that loving grin, "But I'll out support you!"

He was already close to her when she was changed from tundra to Obelisk, and while he was fascinated with the magic that caused this it inspired concern in his heart. Stories, the true stories, were not often kind to heroes. What would he do if the world wasn't kind to Coralle?

Well, he'd make up for it is what he would do. He'd make sure that he was good to her for every ounce of bad that was out there. He'd do all he could to make her happy, and it somehow threw him when she did the same.

"You don't have to trouble yourself," he would say, blushing when presented with immaculate gifts and written tales of her most recent journey (regardless of the fact that he had gone with her). But she'd smile at him, and he would realize all over again that him being happy made her happy.

So he wasn't nervous she wouldn't like his changes. She embraced every shift of color, every change of gene and shift from Ridgeback to Coatl with excitement for the new. With that, he found himself caring more about his own person than he did before - not just to indulge, but to take care of himself.

He truly found his better half through her.
