Availan

The cool, collected leader of the clan. She strives to do what is just and right, but due to her youth and naïveté, she often makes hasty or wrong decisions. Nevertheless, she is (mostly) liked and respected by her clan.
Availan was born into a poor Arcane clan as a Fae by parents who were Lightning and Wind. She had no friends and her parents left her alone, as is custom with dragons, so she was lonely as a hatchling. She was found very ugly and was made fun of by her clanmates. Eventually, she set off into the world to find her own way, sick of the taunting and the loneliness. She stumbled across a small, just developing Arcane clan, with only a Guardian female and a Fae male trying to make their way in the world. She joined them, hoping to help them expand their clan and gain approval of the Arcanist. As the clan grew, it became apparent that Kyarith, the Guardian, and Brynan, the male, could not take care of all of the dragons. They became cruel and violent, often picking fights with those who had offended them and leaving all of the dragons to fend for themselves, so many were hungry and weak. Availan decided enough was enough, and challenged the two of them for their clan. It was a fierce battle, but Availan's clever magic was enough to beat Kyarith and Brynan's brawn. Out of shame, they went to the Arcanist, hoping to serve under him to regain their honor. Availan now resides over the clan, making sure every dragon is taken care of. Her newly found leadership gave her a regal glow. A real case of "The Ugly Duckling."
