Bright Days Turned Brighter ❧

The soft smell of saltwater tickled Theia's nose as she sat at the docks, cradling her pearl gently and watching the ships sail in and out. She had always wanted to jump onto one of the boats and sail away with them but knew she could never. With a sigh, she moved her eyes downwards to look at her pearl with a small smile. Against her bright gold scales, the pearl looked divine as it sparkled white in the sunlight.
She noticed someone walking towards her and turned to see who it was.
Hedone was bouncing towards her, dark raspberry scales glittering almost as much as her joyful expression. "Hey! Theia!" She called out, realizing she had been noticed.
Theia laughed. "What are you doing?"
Hedone reached her, out of breath and panting. "I was looking for you! Have you been here all day? Never mind, I heard my parents talking and they said that your parents said that-" Theia nudged her playfully, "oh right, well they were saying that a bunch of the elders went out to collect the representatives today! Isn't that cool? I hope we get to meet them. And that they're not just a bunch of crotchety old people."
Theia straightened up, eyes sparkling at the thought of new gossip. "Really? That is cool. I wonder who the light dragon will be."
"Wait, there's going to be a light representative?
"You don't know anything about politics. Of course, there is one. Who else is supposed to talk for us in their meetings?"
"Well, I guess you're right. I guess I thought the elders would do it."
"They're too busy for that."
Hedone shrugged. "Everyone's been looking for you."
"Really? Why?" Theia asked. Usually, she could be out by the port for much longer than this.
