Nicolaus DeLucci
Commander in Chief, CEO
Nicolaus DeLucci is the no-nonsense Commander in Chief and CEO of the Essex Private Marine Corps. A devout apostle of making your bed in the morning, the most important things to him are doing things right and doing things quickly, in that order. Like most commanders, he is proud of his fleet's ability in doing just that. Unlike most commanders, he does not waste time languishing in his power. Power is one of those things that bureaucrats and cowards enjoy because it hides their shortcomings, and any friend of those types are enemies of his.
Born into an exalt camp, nothing much was ever expected of him. However, the converse could not be any less true. Little Nicolaus always saw the world unfit for his tastes. The water flight's barracks were never strong enough, fast enough, smart enough. When he left to start his own fleet with a couple of buddies from the 264th Water Flight Infantry, he had already wasted his adolescence on the home front. Although he himself has never talked about his past and despite his efforts, bits and pieces slip through the cracks.
His physical and magical prowess are undoubted by none in the fleet, from his senior commanders all the way down to the mess hall cleaners. As a first commander, he makes an example of leading the charge into every battle talons first. The few combat days he had actually endured during his tenure in the 264th had imbued him with a sort of suicidal eagerness, and his subordinates agree that his Tide-given blessings only stopped short of making him a primal.
Although he makes good bedmates with Svetlana, she knows he only has eyes for the Essex Corps. His son, despite coming in at a close second, is still a runner-up.

His face is stern but calm like an overcast sky over stirring seas, and although his body is marred and crisscrossed with souvenirs from skirmishes both past and present he is particularly proud of a large scar on the inside of his left thigh, left over from bomb shrapnel during one of his first sea battles. He takes any chance he gets to wear clothing that shows it off. His pants are all ripped in the same place, coincidentally...
