Biography
"Don't worry, everyone! Spud is here! Spud will fight these monsters and save you!"
(Spud personally doesn't use pronouns, but some use he/they for Spud. Spud doesn't mind either way.)
Spud appears to be a young Snapper, unearthed by the members of the crew in Dragonhome. Tessa had built a drill to help with digging efforts that eventually unearthed the Obelisks, but the first test dug straight into where Spud had buried himself. Miraculously, Spud was unharmed. The same could not be said for Tessa's drill.
Spud is very confident in Spud's abilities, and genuinely believes that every threat should cower beneath Spud. And Spud would be correct, if Spud was much bigger and able to use their full abilities. As they are now? Well, some flowers might be scared of Spud.

Where Spud came from? Now that's a different story. He hailed from a dimension known for its Miracles and Curses, the latter of which often passed between people in gambles and bets.
They used to be a massive dragon with the strength to raise mountains. They ruled the mountains on the edge of the savannah, exchanging protection for tithes of fish and crops. This dragon was kinder than most, or at least understood that the catfolk couldn't give them as much during a bad season. They were not known as Spud then, but even Spud no longer remembers what their name used to be.
All good things come to an end, but Spud's reign took a very long time to be destroyed. Many fell to his rending claws and indestructible scales, and he seemed unstoppable in his protection until a tiny adventurer approached him one day and asked to take a gamble.
Spud was delighted by the adventurer's bravery, and agreed. (He had a small, but annoying curse he wanted to pass off, mainly to stop being allergic to his favorite fruit: peaches.) They played together, perhaps chatting amiably, until Spud lost. Then, the adventurer's curse took hold.
The adventurer grew... and grew, and grew, until Spud realized that the adventurer wasn't just growing, but that they were shrinking. As much as Spud wanted to bite the adventurer's hands off, they had other plans.
Spud escaped after a while, and wandered the land looking for someone he could pass the curse to. He gave up on that dream eventually, when people started calling him a hero for doing little things like chasing away coyotes or eating weeds, and Spud decided he was happy being small.
Spud isn't sure where the portal came from, but he hopes the others are okay. Especially the farm machine that dreamed of being a blacksmith.
