Biography

Amaya
Age: 39
position: Advisor to the Queen

Amaya came to the lighting flight out of curiosity whilst flying past her usual borders. Hailing from the land of wind, Amaya is a very skillful flier. Her ability to manipulate air to her will is old hat to those around her, but her abilities gained her a spot in the flight after she managed to best Kepi in a challenge (To this day she is the only one to have actually ever beaten the tempest Mirror). Playful, yet dutiful, Amaya has a knack for keeping the clan calm. She is far older now, and is Kepi's most trusted adviser (aside from her husband of course). Amaya is a beloved face amongst the weyr and many people look to her for advice.

Though she initially struggled with Kepi when the mirror failed to heed her warnings about Adonis, when the time came for them to face the evil dragon, the two were able to work together to seal away his arcane abilities. She was there when Adonis betrayed the clan and Kepi lost her children. To think that Kepi could become even more distant was unthinkable and the tempest Mirror's attitude continued to sour. If it hadn't been for Amaya, the clan very well might have collapsed in on itself and Kepi might not even exist today. During this time, Amaya proved to be Kepi's nearest and dearest friend, easily earning the title of Kepi's head advisor. Amaya was there for Kepi and helped her rebuild the clan from the ground up, since many of the dragons that had been in the weyr for Adonis. In the end, the only original members of the clan were Kepi, Amaya, Elysia, and Aldwyn.

For such a young dragon, she is very loving and easily the most compassionate of the group towards other dragons. She is a wonderful listener and very wise. Amaya is the voice of reason when Kepi's temper gets in the way, and the two work off one another.

Kepi had a chance to return the favor when Amaya fell in love with a traveling salesman. Ikaika had a silver tongue and a charming disposition that seemed to win over everyone in the clan...except for Kepi. The only reason the leader allowed him into their weyr was because Amaya was smitten. Even though Amaya was only 19, the two became mated and even had a kid together.

However, their union abruptly ended when Ikaika revealed his true nature. The dastardly Coatl stole from the clan, taking a large portion of the clan's treasure, arcane pages, and technology with him. Kepi eventually was able to retrieve her stolen goods thanks to some of Elysia's beastclan allies, and Ikaika was banished forever on the threat of death if he ever returned.

Amaya was absolutely devastated. She felt foolish and ashamed that she had succumbed so easily to his pretty talk. It would be years before Amaya would even allow herself to befriend another male. While she tried not to let her drama interfere with her relationship with her child, she, unfortunately, was far more distant. She poured herself into her work and her efforts on helping her matriarch rebuild and revamp her weyr. Rhuned was often left to his own devices, and the poor boy tried his best to understand.

Rhuned ventured off on his own at the age of 16, but would occasionally send Amaya little trinkets and baubles to show her affection (maybe even have Sorrell deliver a note or two). Amaya felt even worse about her relationship with her only child and took a leave of absence for a while to explore her old homelands with Rhuned. Thankfully, their time together helped increase their bond, helped her to let go of her past, and gave her back her confidence.

Years have passed since the incidence, and the weyr has grown and flourished. Now a civilized structure with an economy, Amaya has her hands full. However, since Kepi tends to use more opportunities to train LiveWire, Amaya has had some more time to herself.

Or she did.

On a particularly cold day, a strapping male skydancer made his way to the weyr. He stated he was there for business, and that he meant no harm, but neither Kepi, nor her experienced advisor necessarily believed him. Amaya was left to watch over him, and show him around.

It was obvious that this "Rem" did not care for being followed. He would try to lose the skydancer he knew was following him, sometimes successfully. He was sneaky, and slippery, but Amaya would eventually find him again, and she often knew more about the shifty skydancer's plans than she let on.

She found that Rem was attempting to use some form of magic to drain the life energy from the nature in their part of the forest. What he was going to do with it, she wasn't certain, but she wasn't going to let him get that far. On the eve when he started to enact his plan, Amaya attacked.

He was surprised at the beautiful skydancer's fury, and amazed that "someone of her age" could not only keep up with him, but cause him problems. They fought for hours, sometimes it would seem like he was winning, and other times it seemed like she was, but it all resulted in a stalemate. He assumed she would try and capture him, and turn him in, but she merely told him to leave, and that if he ever came back, she'd kill him for sure.

He didn't know what to make of it, of her. He left as requested, but returned every so often to engage the skydancer again. She seemed to be getting better with each fight, and he seemed to be growing worse. At first it seemed like he was returning to enact the same plan, but one had to question why he would wait patiently for Amaya. She certainly began to question it. On one of there many fights, she decided to ask him why he continued to fight her. For someone with a silver tongue like his, it was strange to see him at a loss for words. He seemed genuinely confused.

She didn't see him for a while after that - a year in fact- and something about that didn't feel right. Life continued as normal, until Vesper mentioned that she saw something crash land on the borders of their territory the evening before. With security accompanying her, Amaya went to investigate. Lo and behold she found a horribly beaten, but familiar skydancer.

She took him, first to Victoria for initial healing, and then to Anaster to pay for some medicine to speed up his recovery. Despite everything he had done she stayed with him Fay and night, watching him, and taking care of him. One could easily claim it was to ensure he wouldn't cause trouble, and that is what he told himself originally, but after five days of consistent care, Rem felt there was more to it. He saw Amaya's compassion first hand, and his icy heart began to melt. He had fallen for her.
