Manaia is bioluminiscent. His body not as much as his diaphanous winglets, which can glow really bright in the dark depths of the sea, but it's a gorgeous sight to behold anyways. He can control the brightness of his diaphanous winglets at will, and he uses it to sometimes communicate with other dragons underwater. In dark waters he can almost turn invisible, his glowing markings on his skin blending in with bioluminiscent plankton and other glowing creatures in the deep. More than once he scared a passing dragon when he just starts talking to them out of the blue when they did not expect him at all in the almost pitchblack depths. Good thing not all divers are easily scared off tho, and he has might a lot of friends this way and thanks to his cheery and outgoing personality.
