Biography
"Would you rather have freedom or stability?"
"The Lost Heir"
Vex "My Baby will not be a Warlord." A quiet voice whispered in the dark, clutching harder to the bundle in their arms. The others looked on, eyes and ears alert for anyone else hiding in the dark but also providing privacy. Clanker bit his lip, seeming torn as he stood there. He wasn't even suppose to be here, hell, he was surprised the guards had even let him take over duties. Probably thought him too old to really do any real harm to the Wives, but big enough that his corpse could protect the door and give them time. "Are you sure about this? He would live a good life, Badar won't let any harm co-" "NO." Clanker went quiet, shocked such a harsh voice had come from the delicately minded Doll. Her eyes shone brightly with unleashed fury, hackles raised. "I rather see him have a chance out there, where he can be as free as he chooses, than stuck in this gilded cage." She hugged the bundle closer to her one last time before handing it over to the older man. Clanker sighed, taking the bundle. "He'll be real shine, i'll see he gets a chance." Doll nodded her head, stepping back and into the embrace of her Sisters as Clanker left, closing the vault door behind him. Looking down at the bundle, he smiled softly as a healthy male yawned from his wrap, unknowing of the life he was leaving and the one he was entering. |
"QUOTE HERE" Vex grew up strong, he was a full life after all. Growing up alongside a rather large group of other Warpups, he was lost among the pack. But no matter how busy or in a hurry someone was, they always seemed to have time for the mild mannered Vex. Of course he still fought, fighting was how you resolved fights, gained rank, got food, but he didn't quip back at his superiors or hassle those lesser than him. In return he had a pack of other Warboys always at his back, ready to pull him out of the way of a bullet, offer a pat on the back for a job well done, or overall offer a warm back to curl up against to sleep at night. But while he is the ideal Warboy, he prays to the Immortan everyday, completes his tasks, and happily does War, he cant help but feel like something is missing. It wasn't until Clanker started taking him on patrols with him, it was still real shine, that he realized what was missing. Freedom. The feel of the wind rushing past his face, the sun disappearing to where he couldn't follow, merchants from far off lands telling him stories of their homeland. He couldn't chalk it up to any feeling until he talked to Clanker about it one day when they had been out on patrol and stayed out past the sun setting, both perched on the car and keeping watch for dangers. |
"It's called freedom." Clanker offered, not needing to look at the boy to know he was giving a confused face. Kid had a terrible poker face, always had.
"Freedom? But i mean, aren't we free? We ain't gotta listen to anyone but the Immortan and he don't give us any real nasty jobs, and we ain't prisoners like those in the caverns, or wretched hooked up to the rat wheels." Vex pouted as Clanker laughed, growing agitated trying to catch the eye of the old man. Huffing, he turned back around to his post, not bothering to say another word.
"We live in a fever dream kid. And the thing about dreams is that one day, you gotta wake up." Vex whined as the older man ruffled his head, trying to shove him away.
"Stay on your side old man or i'm gonna shred ya!" He threatened, they both knew he did not have a lot of heat in those words, so he fixed his face when the other just chuckled this time. They lapsed back into silence, watching the world fade to dark around them as the sun disappeared to where none of them could follow. But Vex couldn't help but let his mind run, the same question coming to the front.
'Am I free?'
