On the ragged pathways of the Dawnchaser Clan's port, there are many rumors and legends whispered. One of them spoke of a coatl with eyes as black as night and razor claws permanently stained with dragon blood. They said he was death itself, a phantom from the world beyond. They dubbed him the Reaper, a creature that lived on darkness and despair. They told stories of his bloodthirstiness and lack of conscience. They told stories of a monster, stories fit to scare hatchlings to sleep. They didn't tell the story of a mute hatchling neglected by his clan, for who wanted to hear such things? They wanted somebody to play the part of monster so they didn't have to acknowledge the real monsters around them.
