steps along the
smooth stone
smooth path
not alone,
my task
and heart
from still dark
all will not part
my side,
I keep to you
I keep my pride.

Quiet
might slip from
my throat and
my eyes take
note of
the ghosts that follow
the woods the hollow
road beyond
my fellow shadow,
I will pass the murky pond,
I will fear no danger.
Still
remains my
heart's voice
only when
the spring and
summer end,
to close the
eyes of flower
and evening-light,
to cover my
bark with a mighty bite,
and defend
the peace
the place
and cease
the nightmares from
little minds a-slumber.

Careful
are the sounds
of my trust
and my reach
to grasp at order
and teach
those who cannot
see, cannot be,
someone such as me.
Fly
the lights
from all that
is safely home,
fly the words
of comfort to
my bones
from my heart's
dream of their kind,
from the ones
wise of soul and mind,
I seek their
guidance and
honesty,
to aid my enduring
sincerity.
Clear
is the midnight
road along
which we return
the dark song,
together strung
by our hearts,
my lead to
the tangled place
starts
to become less
a blurr, more
crystalline,
and all can follow
a wonderous shine
down the
road to
our waiting
abode.
