In her youth, Baltic worked as a courier, running mail across the Sea of a Thousand Currents. This could be a dangerous job at times: harpies would occasionally attempt to intercept her and steal her cargo and the weather, especially on the Windswept Plateau and Shifting Expanse, was often quite severe. Despite this, Baltic maintained a perfect delivery record, which she kept up until she retired. She was most well-known, however, for her miraculous ability to be involved in rescue missions - she would often stumble upon dragons needing assistance, and every time she would do her best to help them out. This earned her the respect of several clans, and she became well-known for her efforts.

It was during one such impromptu rescue mission that Baltic met Caronia, the dragon who would eventually become her mate. Caronia was also involved in the rescue, and the two dragons struck up a conversation as they helped ferry a group of bogsneaks off their sinking fishing boat. Baltic learned that Caronia lived in Churnscar Wharf, the same town where Baltic lived and worked, and that she was a meteorologist who worked for a local tour company. The two agreed to meet up again at some point after the rescue, and eventually they fell in love. Baltic took on Caronia as her charge, flattering the pearlcatcher to no end.

After years of dedicated courier work, Baltic finally retired, as she was no longer as youthful and athletic as she'd once been, and shortly afterward Caronia did too. They ended up moving to the Sunbeam Ruins, where Caronia's sister had taken up residence, and they now live happily with the Lanternlight Clan. Baltic has magically transformed herself into an obelisk dragon as well, although she still has the instincts of the guardian she once was and still views Caronia as her charge.
