Who Am I?
I come from a venerable lair obscured within the Leviathan Trench. I am a Deepseer, an oracle. When the Tidelord fell silent, my clan was one of the first to know. With no more prophesies to divine, and no idea where the Tidelord could have gone, there seemed to be only one logical conclusion: I must travel to the homeland of my ancestors, the domain of the Icewarden, and seek his wise counsel. Perhaps he will have heard something of his elder brother, perhaps not.
In any case, I chafed at sitting idly, waiting for answers that would not come, and so I packed my few belongings and set off. I was not travelling long when I met another of my kind, a handsome Gaoler named Balder. He too, was on his way to the Southern Icefield to find out if the legendary Seeker Order still existed. It was truly a serendipitous encounter, one that I believe was meant to be.
We travelled on together, and I told him of the misfortune that had befallen the Water flight. He was sympathetic, and shared his own tale of the dying winds, along with many other stories from all over Sornieth. More than ever, I felt certain that we were meant to meet.
When we reached the Southern Icefield, it was only his unflagging optimism that kept me going through the bitter cold and unforgiving winds. I don't remember much about the last stretch of our journey, but I believe he must have dragged my half-frozen body through the snow.
When I came to, I was in a barren, stone cavern lit by blue flames. My body ached all over, and I felt more exhausted than I had ever felt in my life, but I could feel my claws again, and my wings were no longer frozen stumps. I was being tended to by a friendly female Gaoler named Ren, who had the bright green eyes of a Nature dragon.
She told me that Balder was currently speaking to the wardens on our behalf, and not to worry, that we weren't the first outsiders and she had the distinct feeling we wouldn't be the last. Now that the Seekers had been reinstated, the children of the Icewarden seemed to be coming from all over Sornieth, seeking to fulfill their ancient purpose. She said it was odd, almost as if this was all meant to happen.
I recovered from my ordeal, and soon Balder and I welcomed our first hatchlings, Boreas and Storm. They have since grown into adulthood, and even now are both training to join the Keepers. I know that Balder still dreams of being a Seeker. At one time, that would not have been possible for an outsider, but times are changing.
Despite being touched by the Shade, all of the Icewarden's wayward children are being welcomed home.
