Tranquil

Synopsis:

Tranquil is an old dragon, yet her many years haven't diminished her sharp mind one bit. She uses her keen mind mostly to the benefit of her pupils, working day in and out to prepare materials that will best help her students learn and revising lesson plans for sections her students struggled with. She used to be an avid researcher in chemistry, specifically attempting to study the changes in the chemical composition of things touched by the shade, but put that on the back burner for a while so she can pass on her love and knowledge of the chemical world to up and coming young dragons. Once she's satisfied with her teaching career she plans to retire from being a professor in the Arcane flight and return to her original studies. However, being a long-lived imperial, she's in no rush to quit her job.

She's recently taken an interest in a coatl visiting from the Light flight, Sofia, and has taken her under her wing to teach her the basics of lab practices and set her up with the right team to pursue her studies. Eventually, Tranquil will leave the Arcane flight with Sofia to go to the Light Flight. She'll end up settling in Shady Grove for a while, assisting in setting up a proper school for the hatchlings there, enjoying a break from high academic rigor she never knew she needed. She'll then spend the rest of her days switching between helping run the school and trying to make a breakthrough in understanding how the Shade chemically changes things, and how the process can be stopped or even reversed. If she is ever successful remains to be seen.

Tranquil is sharp minded but soft-spoken. She cares greatly for others and is more concerned with personal development than intellectual, believing that all the intelligence in the world is nothing if given to someone who lacks good habits and personal beliefs. She used to have trouble connecting with those around her until she realized at one point that, as an intelligent and massive imperial, she was incredibly intimidating to her colleagues. Thus, she took it on herself to make herself seem approachable, softening the harsh edges in her tone and wearing clothing other than the typical mage's uniform. Her colleagues noticed her efforts and began to get to know her. Right before she left the university she taught at in her home flight she was one of the most respected professors there, personally heading a board for the advancement of student education and with massive sway over most of the faculty there. Competent and caring, once she establishes herself somewhere Tranquil can easily rise to the top of any group and garner great respect from her peers.
