Biography
Lurple had always been a wanderer, searching for a kingdom to call his own. One day he met a dragon he thought to be a fellow traveler, a large, powerful-looking Mirror named Betrys. She laughed at his story, as most who heard it did — then she said, "I think you would fit in well with us."
"Can your clan make me a king?" Lurple responded.
"Perrhaps, in one way or another. You might do well to visit us." Again, the Mirror laughed. The vibrant eye-shaped markings on her wings and body glimmered in the gloom, and Lurple was suddenly acutely aware that he was speaking with a Shadow dragon, a deciever by nature.
"How can I trust you?" he asked.
"I don't expect you to. How can anyone trrust a strranger?"
Lurple swallowed his nervousness. "If I decide not to join your clan, will I be allowed to leave?"
This spurred the Mirror to greater mirth; she could hardly talk for laughing. "We are harrdly desperate! We would not trrap you when we have enough forces alrready."
And so Lurple decided to follow the mysterious Mirror — if things went wrong, at least he'd had a good run.
After following Betrys on a route that he could have sworn looped more than he did, Lurple finally came to a clearing — or what passed for one in the maze of brambles — in which many dragons lounged or worked, each attending to their own business. Though every one of them looked as though they belonged in the Tangled Wood, Lurple could see eyes of all colors among them.
