Trapped Pearl | Origin
A king long corrupted and a queen long in love, a lineage of prince and princesses lengthens each day...
Konongur, a false king in the expanding southern icefield, has long questioned how to expand and control. He could not leave his lair, for a rebellion was at hand, and his throne would be vulnerable. After days upon days of consideration, the solution came to him. Heirs. A strong, powerful line of heirs was his best option.
But it certainly came to mind that his own bloodline could be troublesome... His breed itself was brilliant, but hard to command. And so he thought of another. Pearlcatchers were his best option, with their vulnerable pearls his source of control. Holding their pearl meant holding their very soul, to them. To him it could be as simple as a toy ball.
And so, he held a celebration for the Crystalline Gala. Ice dragons from all around attended. Within the mix was his soon to be mate, a fair, elegant Pearlcatcher with white and black, mesmerizing patterns adorning her coat. Her name, was Holden.
He spoke with her, wooing her with his lies of love and affection. After the gala, she stayed. She grew closer and closer to him, and eventually, eggs became involved.
But as time grew on and the eggs grew ready to hatch, Holden noticed her mates behavior. His mood swings, his lack of contact, even small words of praise or care became scarce. She liked absolutely none of it, and began to fear not only for the lives of her young, but her own as well...
And so, she planned.
On the third night after the eggs laying, Holden took them, and sent them away with a trusted carrier. She replaced them with false, dud eggs, so that on the night of hatching, they would be believed to be dead.
She would do this with every nest, and with every nest she would not cry false tears, for she would never see her heirs reach a fine adulthood. But for their safety, it had to be done.
