Cozeth, aka. Cozy

Mountaineer

Summary:
A mountaineer who's part of a rescue team, saving unfortunate dragons who get stuck up in the Cloudscape Crags, or any other dangerous place.

Backstory:

Cozeth has always had a close bond with his siblings, despite being quite mischievous as a hatchling, pulling a light-hearted tricks on either one. One day many years back, he decided to bring his little sister, Moco, to the Cloudscape Crags to stargaze at the middle of the night. After loads of planning for their route and preperations, the two Coatls set off, small satchels loaded with as much rations and equipments as their tiny bodies could carry. (But why all the way up there? Pretty sure the stars are still visible from right outside our lair. Eh, best not to dwell on it... Hatchlings are strange creatures.) [wip]

When the duo reached their destination, a very wise Cozeth thought it'd be fun to bring Moco up to the peak of the tallest mountain, just so that they could "see the stars better" despite having heard of all the tales of dragons never returning from hiking up those jagged mountains from the older dragons.

"Surely it wouldn't be that dangerous, right? I've trained and prepared enough for this as is!"

The next thing he knew, he was holding on to Moco for her dear life on a steep edge.

"Brother, I don't want to die...!"
Her eyes filled with utter terror, face gone deathly white from fright.

"Well I won't let you!"
or so he attempted to say, whilst desperately struggling to pull both their weights back up to stable ground.

Tried as the young Coatl might, his strength being far too little to do much.
Soon, the ground started giving way, cracks within the ice growing larger and larger. Harsh hail pelted onto the two mercilessly. Cruel, deafening winds slashed at their small forms as if to laugh and sneer at poor little Cozy, for thinking that ever climbing up here was even a good idea in the first place.

Eventually the ground had enough of the two, losing its patience in a shattering fit of fury, causing Cozeth to lose his already wobbly footing, falling with his sister as she let out a shriek, only to be drowned out by the cackling blizzard. Knowing this to be their end, they silently bid farewell to each other, to their eldest brother, to Mom and Dad and everyone in the clan as a desperate means to ignore their impending demise...

...But was it now?

Right as the two coatls were about crash onto the ground, they were yanked upwards by a sudden force, seemingly a dragon holding each hatchling with a mighty talon. Still in absolute shock, he was very confused, but one thing was for sure; he was exhausted. Too weary to care where the enigmatic dragon was taking them both, he simply saw it as an opportunity to rest... and nodded off to sleep.

Cozeth awoke beside Moco, surrounded by family. His mother broke down and embraced the her two children tightly, followed by his brother, even Moco and Cozeth's normally aloof father then joining the hug; all extremely thankful to the Icewarden that their loved ones got home safely.

...

While both dragons were lucky to have escaped with their lives, Moco was the unluckier of the two. Despite being saved by the mysterious dragon, she suffered severe enough injuries that left her crippled enough to be incapable of flight, and so went all her hopes of becoming an aerial scout along with. Of course, she was too young to remember much of it then, left unaware that her previously irresponsible brother was the cause of her wings become incapable of flight.

...Perhaps in a way, Cozeth wasn't any luckier; now plagued with the knowledge of what he did to his dear sister.

Present Day:
While the two have now since grown and led fulfilling lives of their own, Cozeth's still tormented by what happened that fateful night. He doesn't even remember what it was like to have a good night's rest, dreams of the past swirling around his mind every time, especially Moco's dead-horrified expression.
That, was what drove him to become a mountaineer in a way; so that dragons would never have to endure what he put his sister through. He also takes up the occasional side gig of being a travel guide around the Southern Icefield, likely just for some extra security when it comes to treasure.

Personality:

Generally friendly, he holds his job in high regard. Though his past experience has made him more somber, the playful inner hatchling does shine through every so often. Also one should note his constant avoidance of hatchlings. It's not to say his terrified of them or the like, he simply "does not want to take the risk of endangering them, like I(he) did with her(Moco).
