Erebus

Darkness and the unknown have always been a source of fear for all peoples. As the torchlight fades, it becomes ever more true, and the travelling party huddles together hoping numbers will protect them when the lights go out. While some fears are irrational, based on nothing more than hearsay or a creeping, senseless dread, night and shadow remain a rational terror. You cannot defend against what you cannot see.

Erebus is an Inheritor of the Incarnation, a veritable god of death and its aspects. While most of his siblings find themselves drawn to a particular subset of powers, he stands back and does not choose. Thus, he has no specific role or abilities, but that is not a disadvantage. He does not need to focus on developing something to serve better; his mere existence is powerful enough on its own. An aura of deep, blinding darkness follows his every step, no matter the time of day.

He does not harm or even appear to his victims in any way that matters, often just existing in the vicinity is sufficient to cast them into despair and horror. And that is all he needs. His haunts are often the subject of ghost stories, a phenomenon he encourages, as it draws more to him. Nothing bad ever comes to those under his shroud at his claws, but that does not make them safe. There is truth to the horrible tales told around campfires.

Vanity is a foreign concept to Erebus, only those present at his hatching have ever seen him, and they cared little for appearences. Instead he values the clearness of his mind. The Shade has never spoken to him or even indicated its presence to him, leaving his fate entirely up to him. Whether that is simply something he believes to keep himself sane or the truth is impossible to tell.
