Biography
Result of a Shade-driven alchemist's final effort to recreate emperors with Lightweaver's favored children (before the mob with torches and pitchforks arrived). Fortunately for his chance of acceptance and life expectancy among any other dragons anywhere ever, possesses the standard number of heads and other body parts... although many of them don't appear to have come from the same body as the rest, which makes the "previously dead" claim hard to argue.
Still, no one would assume "previously dead" as a reason for chimeric appearance if he wasn't completely open about it. Inquiries about his past get that answer—apparently his memories extend no further than revival. And the only record of his past (or existence) anyone's been able to find is a receipt for "scavenged from battlefield, one (1) corpse, pearlcatcher (mostly intact)".
Surprisingly cheerful, levelheaded and untraumatized given that background, although presumably the lack of memory helps there. Really the only noticeable effect (besides unusual strength, uncanny magical ability, and unnaturally rapid healing) is the absolute total disregard of death as a meaningful consequence. He's been dead. He's not anymore. Death is like lunch or a bugbite or a rock or something apparently, and he doesn't have the slightest compunction about considering it a reasonable solution for any problem. Puddleglum literally cannot understand his unconcern. Tigris has somehow never met this mythical other pearlcatcher and is half convinced his alleged existence is a weird and way too persistent joke. Raffles approves his casual bloodthirst so whole-heartedly she appointed him Lair Ambassador before anyone could protest. (Everyone else hastily defined lair ambassador as "Travels. Extensively. No need to return. Everyone else he encounters learns the same things, independent of each other. He's perfectly willing to listen to any issue and accept any manner of request, no matter how menial, though any that involve time constraints are likely to get done either immediately or sometime in the distant future, when and if he happens to wander back and remember, with no in between. He's an excellent drake to have happen by if there's some problematic lot of creatures they'd like exterminated in a brief and impressive manner somewhere. He's accumulating an unasked for hoard of gifted single dens on the far outskirts of clan land and deeds to tiny remote promontories which he stops by only to stash things. His map has an ever-increasing number of markers for vaguely described points of interest way over thataway, possibly in the direction of an enemy. (He's going to visit them all.) |
