Hark! and hear of the Great Spirit of History.

Ptah came into this world with a great purpose: to hold history in his hands and record it for all to remember and know, to retain the heart of history, the fabric of the world, within himself, and recite it for all who were willing to hear, to remind to reflect, to remind that where we have come was paved with good intentions, whether it ended in grief or rejoycing. It mattered not: Ptah was the one to whom all sought for the history of the ages, for the wisdom that came from that deep knowing, and to witness one of the oldest dragons ever to walk the earth. Whence he came, no one knew other than he came from Earth, and to Earth he belonged. This world was his world, and so long as it turned so he would turn with it. He was ever present, and in time, this immortality came with its own consequence: loneliness.

And so Ptah wandered in search of a place to call his own. For, though history was his great pursuit, he had no history of his own. No parents, no lineage, nothing to connect him to the true peoples he spoke. For all the wisdom that came from Ptah, he had no one to bring him wisdom, no one to give him comfort, or a home to truly call his own. For many long years he traveled, ever kind and strong, but ever lonely. That was until a little hatchling came bounding from what seemed nowhere, an older dragon following after and calling the little one back to him. The young one giggling with mischief became distracted and ran into the tall but gentle giant. With a kind glance, Ptah observed this hatchling with strange eyes, and soon a bond was formed between these three. They too seemed lost in search of a place to call their own. And so, with time, Ptah came to raise these two dragons, named Elrohir and Elladan; though Elladan never seemed to grow older, ever young just as Ptah was ever old.

Still, what once was a dragon, old, wise, but alone, now had found something he had never had before: a family. And while no true home did they have, it mattered not, not when there was connection and life now in Ptah's grasp. And so Ptah wandered no more alone. And this filled him with joy, and perhaps, too, this was his own purpose and wisdom returned back to him. And that, too, filled Ptah with warmth.
