Biography

Technologically Advanced Robotic Soldiers (TARS) was a military project built to design soldiers that can defeat any enemy. The robots created by the scientists of TARS often became aggressive, causing the deaths of eight soldiers as well as two of the scientists involved. The government quickly shut the project down before anyone else could be harmed.

[REDACTED] refused to give up this project. He had lost his daughter because of how much time he had invested. He wasn't going to let that go to waste.

It took years before he was able to recreate the TARS robots, but he did. He created this subject, TARS-092. TARS-092 went haywire, just as all the others did. All that remained at the scene of the crime was blood and torn scraps of metal.

The government is always keeping an eye out for any and all TARS designs. They are to be killed on sight and dismantled immediately.

There is an estimated __2__ remaining TARS protocol creations.
TARS-092 was captured by another scientist, [REDACTED], retired from the same project. [REDACTED] kept TARS-092 locked in a solid metal cage. Through the behavior of TARS-092, [REDACTED] came to a very surprising conclusion.

TARS-092 is sentient.

TARS-092 showed similar emotions to that a dragon would feel. It became visibly distressed whenever it was turned back on after some small disassembly. It was clearly confused as well. No AI has ever been able to process emotions, and there was nothing coded into TARS-092 to suggest an attempt at creating it. Sentience was the only plausible answer.

[REDACTED] decided to investigate this further. She began to experiment, to find things TARS-092 enjoyed. She wanted to know if TARS-092 would respond to reward-based training. If it did, there was a chance [REDACTED] could convince the government to allow the program to reopen.

She found that TARS-092 responded positively to the voices of children. Recordings of children at a park were used. It would get excited, which included rearing back to jump on walls, and its claws would retract, an intended feature to show docility towards allies. [TBC]
