Another day.

There was no slow dawn of light, or loud alarm, or croak of birds that woke GAZE up. None at all, for GAZE couldn't percieve the world in that manner, not through their own body. No, what awoke GAZE out of their optimization cycles was the energy emanating from the being below them. Hot, like a live wire, ancipation and impatience flashed across their carapace, bright as the morning sun to GAZE. GAZE shifted, stretching out their unused limbs to keep them from locking up, and slowly blinked all 207 eyes to clear out any dust that settled while their were offline.

Make that 208, GAZE noted as a section of skin on their lower left limb swelled and twisted. A new DRONE, then. A new set of eyes to see out of. GAZE cast their mind out, connecting with the drones slowly gathering in VITIOSI's main chamber, and plugged into them.

Tens of worlds burst into view, different angles of the same scene. It only took a milisecond for GAZE to apply their overlays, heat and motion and more onto the cacaphony of vision they were offered. They saw themself perched on VITIOSI's head, and took the opporunity to shift themselves up onto their antlers, draping their body to let the muscles rest optimially.

And it was time again.

They cast their mind out again, recieving pings from deep within the hive to the edges of H409's territory. Several near the borders brushed GAZE's mind, and slipped out of range. EPSILON running another expedition out of H409 territory. Very well, GAZE would use the excess cycles to run further optimizations to prepare for new DRONES. VITIOSI seemed to be getting more and more, exponentially increasing as the days dragged past.

A miliscecond, and GAZE's worldview expanded twentyfold, the rest of the drones in range within GAZE's purview. GAZE settled the last of their limbs and disconnected their remaining senses.

Nothing would escape their Gaze.
