Marax came to this clan in the very beginning, when he was scarcely more than a hatchling himself. Then they lived in the Driftwood Drag, and his upbringing in a larger, older Shadow clan was invaluable to the rather naive leaders.

He left that clan seeking adventure and respect, things that are hard to fight for when you’re the youngest in an old place- but most importantly, he sought magic. The kind that you can only find where dragons trust you, where you’ve got a reputation and some weight to throw around. The kind that seeks new clans like a moth to a flame, the kind that leaders seem to attract just by breathing and blinking. He was ambitious and he was young and he wanted to know what made clans tick, all the secrets that they won’t tell to barely-hatched young things like him in old places. So he left and he thrived.

He’s not good at magic, he’s accepted that. But at least here he can command the eyes of any dragon in the lair and know that he’ll be listened to. He’s a model warrior- been around long enough to dodge blows and dish them out, training young things and coming back with glory piled on. He can deal with not being good at magic. The rest of the clan thinks he’s a bit of an oddball, but they love him in their own strange way and that’s what matters. And if he likes to scare the hatchlings just a little bit, make them think of following his path into newer and smaller pastures? Well, he’s just helping them to succeed.
