Asher

A self-taught mage and wickedly intelligent Gaoler from the Highland Scrubs. Originally born to a Wind clan, Asher's clan collapsed and his parents were forced out of their territory shortly after he hatched. After wandering the Shifting Expense for weeks, his parents were unable to take care of him and abandoned him in the plains. Lacking family and friends, Asher learned to survive and fight on his own, avoiding other dragons whenever possible. Utilizing what he could scavenge off defeated dragon patrols, he learned how to tap into his natural magics and spent many of his days reading.

Asher never intended to join any clan, enjoying his freedom and reliance on only himself. As luck would have it though, his hunting ranges took him into the path of a migrating clan moving from Ice over to Light's territory. He tried to avoid them, but ran into another Gaoler, Hastur, while they were both hunting. They argued and postured over their shared kill, but other members of Hastur's clan managed to soothe tensions. Asher traveled with them, intending to only stay as long as they were in his territory, but he and Hastur turned out to be love at first sight.

Now that the clan has returned back to Ice, Asher has taken up a role of leadership. Truthfully, he didn't really want it, but he had no intention of letting Ripley take command either. While she was a fine friend and possessed razor sharp wits, he worried about her unemphatic streak and the deeds she would accomplish with that power.
