The nameless little veilspun wanted to be happy, but wanting something and having it are very different things.
Being born into a cold, utilitarian clan as a sentimental free-spirit didn't make it easy. She saw potential in everything! She saw art in refuse, and worth in everyone.
Her clan did not treat her kindly for her whimsy, but still saw her use. She was made to look after the clan's nursery from a very young age, and though she did find some joy in it, seeing such bright-eyed, hopeful hatchlings grow into callous adults under the clan's teachings wore away at her.
She wanted to be free to make her own choices, she wanted to see what the world was like outside her clan, and she wanted to make art!
So one day she feigned sick, which forced another dragon to take her place as caretaker for the day. Then she packed her very few possessions and left for good.
She quickly fell in love with the ornate tilework she found soon after leaving the Foxfire Bramble, following brickwork paths all the way to the Forum of the Obscured Crescent and marveling over its construction. She would choose the name Mosaic for herself after learning just what such an art form was called, and began crafting her first works there, on the outskirts of the shrine.
Over the years, she got fairly decent at it, enough so that travelers began seeking her out even from other territories.
Eventually, one such customer was Valley, who was enchanted by her work. The strange imperial offered her a proper home, endless inspiration, and a tutor just as passionate as she was.
The rest, as they say, was history.
