Lore
It was just a normal day in the Sea of a thousand currents. There were Maren folk were out playing near the flats and seals out catching fish at the edge of the reefs.

Then all of a sudden a strange fog enveloped the area and the once warm air turned cold enough to rival the Icefield’s. The waters of the sea were even colder. Most of the inhabitants either swam away as quickly as possible to find a safe place to hide or else they were frozen in place. Those that stayed out did not dare make a noise.

Moments passed before bright, glowing lights emerged from the depths of the Trench--a Currentfinder was the first to move just a bit closer to the phenomenon--but then there was a flash of lightning and the boom of thunder from above the surface. The Maren looked up to see a storm raging in the skies above them.

Just as they turned back, a pained roar bellowed from the depths of the Trench, sending the rest of the Marens into hiding as the blinding lights rose closer to the surface...

Characteristics
They feel most comfortable among their kind, in lairs it's best to have a separate area for them, away from dragons. They are very hostile towards strangers and protective of their young. Caution is strongly advised.

After much time/effort, they may tolerate dragons, however there are cases of them accepting dragons/creatures into their clans, that show a strong affinity or connection to the sea, though this is rare.
