H i s t o r y

______ His soft footsteps resonate throughout the lair, then vanish as abruptly as they had appeared. The echoes, however, live on, shadowing the melody of the clan's bustling daily activities. The sound is always in the background, always quite out of reach, and though it sometimes fades out of earshot, it is always there. There is a strange mystery about him, woven either from a horrible past or from his personal charisma. Rumors say that he was abandoned by his birth pack when he was born, due to being the only Obelisk born to Pearlcatcher and Mirror parents, way before the time of resurface at that. If the rumor is true, then that may very well be why he refuses to interact with others.

______ Despite being seen as a loner, Grove is especially close with his blooming strangler, named Abaddon. Though Abaddon is slightly distrustful and cynical of the world, the strangler lowers its defenses when Grove comes near, knowing that it can trust this Obelisk dragon. Abaddon helps Grove train the new Familiars that arrive in the lair, and can often be seen by Grove's side. It is said that if you see Abaddon, Grove in bound to be near. They shadow each other, these two, and together, they shadow the clan.

______ When Haumea came to the clan, Grove was instantly smitten with her. Having never really had any interest in other dragons (especially the opposite sex), he often has a hard time showing his emotions towards her. Haumea, however, saw through this and sees him as a kind and gentle dragon, despite what others spoke of him, and often could be seen in each other's company. Over the months since she joined Clan Macabre, Grove fell in love with the barren Fae. Though he knows she is ashamed of her infertile ways, he loves her nonetheless and cares not for her claims of not wanting to burden him with a mate who cannot bare children. He tells her that he is fine with that, though she still doesn't believe him and tries to push away the feelings between them. Grove, however, has other plans and has no intentions of letting her do so.

P e r s o n a l i t y

______ Well-known as the Familiar trainer of the Macabre clan, Grove clearly has a better knack for non-dragon creatures. He retains a slightly creepy atmosphere when others are around, and mothers keep their newborns well away from him for fear he would spook the young hatchlings. (Which he, on several unfortunate occasions, had accidentally done. In his defense, the hatchlings provoked him.) Grove is rarely found with other dragons in the lair, when he could be found, and always eats alone instead of dining with the others. No friends, no mates -- nothing. That is, until Haumea appeared.

______ Strangely enough, Grove is incredibly gentle with Familiars. He could tame the wildest disorientated spirit and fashion a vicious wartoad into a tamed, thousand-massage waterbed in a matter of minutes. Several dragons who've spied on him during his interactions with the Familiars marvel at the unknown sympathy and consideration the Obelisk withheld, and earned great respect for him (that is, until he discovered them and unleashed a Serpenta on them.)
