Biography
Brocade She traveled long and far from her home. Weaving silks from new materials she crossed in her travels. Things such as spiderwebs, delicate grass, mycelium, ash smoke, all from across the flights of Sornieth. Nothing seeming to be the perfect material for her claw-made lace she specialized in... Perhaps the next place will have what she’s looking for... Setting out traveling once again, Brocade stumbled upon the massive floating lair of Zephyrus. Practically a flying city, she found the mobility of the clan to be excellent for her search for the perfect material. She could finally settle down while still continuing her search any time the lair docked to resupply. |

Brocade honestly tried to learn goldsmithing from her mother, but she was always so much more fascinated by Apatite's regal appearance and the stories the Pearl/Snapper told her of various fabrics and clothing she'd seen during her travels. Instead of going to lessons with her mother, Brocade would find herself sneaking off to listen to more stories from Apatite. The young veilspun decided she wanted to see the world and all the fantastical things Apa told her about. When Brocade was old enough to leave the mines, she went to live with her older sister Isis for a time While living there, she started working with Permafrost and Robin. After learning more about fabrics and clothing from them, Brocade realized that her tiny little veilspun hands were perfect for making fine silks and lace. She decided to start traveling, looking find the perfect material with which to make her wears. The road was difficult, and she didn't always have money to stay at inns, but having grown up sleeping in tents down near the mines, she was quite suited to the life of a traveler. Eventually however, she realized that she wanted to settle down and open her own shop. Traveling was fun, but she missed having a place to call home As she made her way into the windswept plateau, she heard rumors about a clan known as Zephyrus, which had taken to the skies in a massive floating lair. It sounded almost too good to be true! Since Zephyrus was constantly on the move, it would allow her to continue her search for the perfect material while still being able to open up her shop. A place to call home The lace-maker often writes to Apatite now that she has travel stories of her own, wanting to give a little something back to the one who inspired her path. From time to time, she writes to her parents and sends them samples of her work, hoping that maybe Asteria will proud of her, though part of her knows that she probably never will. Despite knowing her mother thinks she wasted her potential straying away from the family business, Brocade still uses the skills her mother taught her to incorporate gold, and small gems into her work sometimes. Unlike the stricter upbringing their mother had, Brocade's children were given ample opportunities to explore and discover what skills they had, and what THEY wanted to do in life. Brocade did her best to support them in any and all endeavors, and was thrilled when they went out into the world to make their way in life. |
