Hecate and Devika were driven away from their birth clans for loving each other and not the dragons their clans had arranged for them to bond with. Instead, Hecate and Devika struck out on their own. Harassed as they passed through many clans, winding a twisting path from the Tangled Wood, across the Sea of a Thousand Currents, through the overbright Sunbeam Ruins and then up to the Viridian Labyrinth. Though the Gladekeeper’s lands were lush and welcoming, it was still too bright for the Shadow dragons. Just as they meant to turn back to the Tangled Wood, they saw a path into the undergrowth with a small sign that simply read: Scar Sap Enclave. Hecate and Devika decided that it sounded interesting enough to investigate. As they followed the nearly-hidden track deeper into the undergrowth, they grew more and more at ease. The Scar Sap Enclave was a wonder to behold: while there were great shafts of light pouring through the gaps in the ancient tree boughs, there were also enormous fungus shelves on which delicate Fae tree-sap homes were perched. The entirety of the Lair was a marvel of Nature, Shadow, Plague and Arcane magic. It was the closest to the Tangled Wood that the Nocturns could imagine ever finding. Aside from finding a place to call home, they found true kinship with the dragons of the Scar Sap Enclave. Viper greeted them as long-lost sisters and welcomed them to stay as long as they’d like. Fierce Esme impressed them with her no-nonsense command of the clan’s day-to-day operations. The other clan members didn’t look twice at two bonded lady Nocturns. A few weeks into their stay, they met a trio of bonded male dragons as well as another pair of bonded ladies. It was realizing that, truly, no one in the clan thought any less of them for their love that washed the last of their reservations away. Once they committed fully to the Scar Sap Enclave, they searched for a way to assist the clan. Devika, with her many years and countless journeys, has taken up the position of Translator. Hecate has dedicated herself to documenting the Clan’s history as the Lorekeeper. |
