     Puck Leprechaun They/them Genderfluid Pan, poly Playful Devious Mischievous Pisces   "In woods and valleys I did play, On feet so light no prints were left in the clay. Tricking, laughing, fun all round, Til one day the silence reigned profound. No, not quiet, when wings beat down, I ran to find and they did astound. A dragon, they were, a mother with egg, An egg dying, til I soul bled. Now I dance upon waves and over skerries, With wings of leather and eyes like sweetened berries. A new land to discover, to make my home, When I reach it, I shall find my own."

On an Island, far away from every mainland, not to be found unless one knows where to look, lies the Kingdom of Dûn. Dense, dark forests, covered in mist, and cliffs, high and deadly, make passage near impossible. In the middle of the Island, a meadow can be found, the only inhabited place the Kingdom of Dûn offers. This is where you find the High King Auberôn and his Faefolk - also known as Faeries or the Fair Folk. The Faefolk consist of several species: kobolds, trolls, pixies and many more. The most mischievous, however, are the Leprechauns. They live on the high cliffs and lead possible wanderers astray, almost always into their certain death, thus providing food for their own. Yes, they are little savages… Puck was one of the oldest Leprechauns of Dûn. Ever dutiful, they cared for their kin, even if they never had a family of their own. They grew up under Auberôn himself, having been found abandoned in the woods as a youngling. Who their parents were, no one ever knew. As they came of age, Puck noticed more and more how other members of the Kings court seemed to resent them. Having grown up in the palace, never in contact with the Leprechauns of the woods, it took them quite a while to understand. When one day, after a rather unpleasant incident with some pixies, they couldn't take it anymore, King Auberôn made contact with a delegation of Leprechauns and arranged for their adoptive son to go and live with their kin. It took some decades to adjust to their new life in the woods, but being among their own felt good and right. At least for a few centuries… Killing wanderers, always doing nothing but hiding in the woods and staring down from the cliffs onto the wild sea, Puck grew a need for more. What exactly their heart desired, though, Puck didn't know. Until, one fateful night, the sound of beating wings woke them from their sleep. Leaving the cozy and warm bed, their feet carried them to the cliff again, the moon reflecting on the ocean's rough surface. And there, hovering above the water, Puck saw the most magnificent creature they ever laid eyes on - a Dragon. They only knew those magnificent beasts from the books in their Kings library, oh so many years ago. But now, here was one, about to land on the beach of Dûn. Never had Puck run any faster. Upon their arrival on the beach, Puck's heart stuttered. This magnificent, giant beast had laid down its head, its breathing heavy and laboured. Careful not to spook the possibly hurt creature, Puck crept forward, ever closer, until the dragon whipped its head around and stared right at them. Big gashes and slashes covered the beast's body, and Puck knew the poor thing would not live for much longer. Their heart was heavy and full of sadness. Bravely, they lifted their hand and reached for the dragon's snout, surprised to find the massive reptile calm and accepting the touch. Its scales were smooth and hard like processed iron, and just as cool. Creeping a little bit closer, Puck wrapped their arms around the beast's head. Soothing words and gentle pats, Puck knew the Dragon would not live for much longer. Feeling the strong muscles of the creature's neck move underneath their hands, Puck took a step backwards, as the dragon gently nudged something in their direction with it's very last strength and breath, before its head sank to the ground, all life drained. Puck's soul screamed and cried for the poor creature, but jumped in excitement once they saw what the dragon left them with - an egg! Scrambling forward, they reached for ot, but soon felt themselves filled with dread. The egg was mostly cold, the heartbeat inside weak and infrequent. Throwing a single glance at the dead mother and one at the Island, the Kingdom of Dûn, so well known to the old Leprechaun, Puck made a decision. They called forth an old magic, one hand on the egg, binding their life and energy to the dying soul within, one on the dragon's head, from where they pulled memories of lands far far away. In a flash of blonding green light, the Leprechaun's old body vanished as the egg hatched, and Puck was reborn as a young dragon. With the knowledge the dragon provided him, Puck flew off to new shores, in search of a new, exciting life.
