With scales entierly of obsidian and dressed in gold, Anubis makes for a striking figure, even amongst the troupes other members, though visitors rarely see him. he does not take part in the troupes performances or battles. Instead he keeps vigil in his tent. Recording events taking place in and around the troupe. Shoudl there ever be a confilict in the camp which combat is not suited to solve, Anubis will be the one they go too for guidance and impartial judgement.

His book, which despite being years old never seem to run out of pages, contains stories and names of all dragon that has interacted with anyone from the troupe, even without Anubis being told about any of it. Grimm is the only one who knows how Anubis can write these things down and neither one of them are telling.
The book also contains a list of names off all troupe members who left to serve the gods. They are recorded there by him as Grimm sends them on their way.
"They should be remembered, despite no longer flying with us. A name goes a long way to ensure they remain in our memory"

Whilst Anubis keeps to his books, Chai is talking to the troup members getting to know them. Their mix of pragmatic and personal approach to problems lets them join forces in solving whatever problem they come across.
