NON DUCOR, DUCO

______ Deep in the bamboo thickets of the Reedcliff Ascent was born a young coatl of a curious sort. Frail and sickly, but bright eyed and studious was she. Before she had the strength to so much as coast across a breeze, she invested herself thoroughly in books. They were her sole connection to the world she was too weak to explore just yet. She would read of everything; of magic, of medicine, of herblore and botany and alchemy and of gods. They were her world and they allowed her to experience the world as her health recovered.

______ Gradually and gracefully, Dia grew stronger and more elegant with time. Years of training strengthened her wings, and allowed her health to grow sturdy. And though she struggled, Dia managed to soar. And she realized that with this change, she must explore the world she spent her life so fervently studying. In her excitement, and her haste, she packed a simple rucksack and took a thick cloak and flew into the night without a word. The experience was as liberating as it was terrifying, galling her to realize her faux pas, but utterly magical as she looked into the crystal clear sky that shone with the lights of the galaxy above.

______ Her studies persisted in her travels, growing far more diverse as she learned from experts of their crafts. From practitioners of curious magical arts long forgotten, to humble farmers that knew how to whisper to their plants to grow more vibrant and delicious. She reveled in everything she learned, and realized as she went she could be more than just a student. She taught young girls in the heart of the Viridian Labyrinth, she adopted and raised an abandoned young Mirror that desired no name, met the man who would become the love of her life and join her in her lengthy travels, and found a quintet of guardians with curious gifts. And with her discoveries, her own magical gifts grew as she managed to bring life in peculiar ways. Dia brought life to a ball jointed effegy to the Windsinger, she drew pieces of the sky above the Shifting Expanse and shaped them into a trio of siblings, and, in a moment where her curiosity and need to challenge herself eclipsed morality, she brought a corpse back to life successfully.

______ For so long her path felt the way it did for many a dragon born unto the Windsinger's lands; the desire to move and travel endlessly. To see what the world offered as it unfolded before her eyes, but it felt directionless. Like she was tossing about in the aimless breeze. But in her final visit to the Sunbeam Ruins that her path in life felt clear. She sat atop mountain, in the remains of a once great marble temple when she felt a cool voice echo through her head. It told her of how her knowledge could be put to better use. How her talents must be shared, that her gift of teaching must be settled so that generations could come to her and that they may shape a luminous new world. And it resonated so deeply, the core of her existence felt at home with those thoughts. And before even the home for her own family could be built, they crafted an academy that would rise to greatness.
