In parts of Flamecaller's domain, there exist places at the edge of where lava meets water where the shimmer of gold can be seen within the boiling water. By the time the water cools, this glimmer is gone. This strange substance is actually a living sort of algae that has the texture of fine sand. A group of dragons learned to harvest and cultivate these magical cultures, using it to create a living armor or carapace to supplement their damaged and frail bodies with something that could absorb magic and dull claws with relative ease. These now-golden dragons pride themselves in their outward beauty, often taking years to build thick layers of the hardened entity. The thicker their casing, the older the dragon tends to be.
