Little Midnight loves stories - and it helps that her family is made up of avid readers! The baby dragon passes her time by reading or listening to tales from the dragons of Sunbeam Grotto. She's looked after by all the elders in the clan and, of course, her brother Twilight. Midnight loves her eldest brother, Dusk, more than anyone - but his apprenticeship has taken him on a journey across Sornieth, and his visits are many moons apart. When he's away, Midnight comforts herself with the fact that Dusk always returns home safely, with a great many new stories to share with the clan and their family.

Midnight is sensitive to the sunlight, and prefers to stay in the safe embrace of the caves during the day. She's awfully advanced for her age, able to read and write as well as a scholarly adult, and as such has been excused from the lessons traditionally mandated for hatchlings of the clan. She isn't a particularly skilled flyer, nor does she possess any grace in the water, but it's clear her life's pursuit will be academic in nature, so her family isn't concerned with forcing her to practice more than the basics.

As a shy bookworm, it's a wonder Midnight has become such close friends with the rambunctious Kambe...though if their guardians knew of the adventures the little dragons got up to in each other's company, they would likely be alarmed!
