Since the beginning Jay always knew they were a boy and was born in the wrong body. Despite all that his parents tried to do to get him to take the roles of a "proper lady" he refused to do anything of the sort and continued to chase his dreams of being head of the guard without any shame. This lead to a lot of discriminatory folk harassing the poor kid to the point where he fled the toxic clan to become what he dreamed to be elsewhere. When his parents finally caught word of a blue wildclaw named Jay taking over the position of the neighboring clan they reached out to him and tried to reconnect, realizing their mistake. It took a lot of convincing, but they finally came around to their apologies being accepted by Jay. They stay in touch to this day and remain on good terms, although communication is awkward at times.
