God of Death
❝ you put your finest suit on, i paint my fingernails. oh, we're going out in style, babe - and everything's on sale. we creep up on extinction, i pull your arms right in. i weep and say goodnight love, as my organs pack it in. ❞

As the god of Death, Memento was created to reap the souls of the unfortunate and see them through to the other side, but what no one expected was for Death to be a cheerful soul himself— He never took pleasure in the idea of taking souls, but he understood his role in the cycle of Life and Death and eventually came to find some peace in the idea that he was able to help people's souls come to rest.

He always worked alongside his counterpart— Mori, the God of Life— and while the two never originally got along, there were certain things they found themselves learning from each other, to the point where the dup became practically inseparable. One of their many years together, the duo had came up with the concept of living as mortals for one year and documenting it for mortals to enjoy. Unus Annus— One Year— they called it, they spent that entire year doing everything and anything they could to enjoy mortal life, and it turns out that mortals enjoyed it just as much as they did.

Memento was broken when they had to give up that one year, but he decided to imprint himself with the countdown they had been using, now reading 00:00:00:00 permanently on his arm. He looks back on that year with great fondness.
