Bolide

The second of Alabaster and Alexandrite's children, Bolide was a very kindhearted and helpful little hatchling. Encouraged by his mother, he learned to read star maps so no matter where he was outside, he could always follow the night sky home if he ever needed to in case he ever got lost. Of course, with the clan's dragons keeping watch of him, he never did. But that didn't stop him from getting lost by himself on purpose and using the stars to come home, just to try out his newfound knowledge. He got quite a scolding from his mother however...

As he grew older, he was more interested in his older half-brother Bubblegum's healing remedies and plants. Things that could be helpful to others. Taught more by his "auntie" Rubybones, he began to see how plants could take care of fevers and burns, as well as help soothe sickness and calm the body. At first, Alabaster was a bit worried his new son would end up soft like Bubblegum, but that all changed once Bolide showed interest in playing with his distant cousin, Lazybones. The two seemed to get along well enough, and Bolide was always happy to tell his mom and dad about his day. Alexandrite observed that Bolide was beginning to fit into his name appropriately, because he was a very bright young dragon, intellectually as well as emotionally.

Bolide began to train a little with Blueberry and Wrathorwell, admiring how cool they were. Alabaster felt a bit jealous, being a clan fighter himself, he felt ignored. Finally, to the surprise of his father, Bolide asked his dad to help him learn how to defend himself so he could help defend others. You see he wants to become a soldier, but also a medic and rescue dragon. With the clan growing larger, it would need someone to look out for the wounded in battle and the lost, who didn't know how to read a star map. He works with Elva the clan doctor in order to help treat wounds and attend to healing the dragons who end up hurt or fatigued.

Alexandrite is so....very...proud of him.
But even more so, Alabaster was thrilled up to the neck frills. He's very close now with Bolide and couldn't be a prouder father if he tried!

Personalitywise, Bolide is not only a kindhearted guy and an empathetic presence. He's also very playful and passionately determined. It's tough to get him to pay attention at times, if he's focused in any of his tasks. He is also a big food and music lover, humming and singing whenever he likes, and copying other dragons' songs and voices sometimes. He'd make a good actor if he weren't so involved and adamantly resolute in his pursuits. He's also developed a fear of storms, oddly enough...he's had it ever since he was a hatchling.

And what was once a gesture of genuine kindness and goodwill, blossomed into a love so sweet, when Bolide offered to help Winifred find her way around when she was so hopelessly lost within her new home. All the male dragons that fawned over Winifred soon grew envious of Bolide, remarking how lucky he was to be mates with such an angel. Bolide does count himself lucky, because without Winifred, he would not be helping to mend and heal and recover the dragons of the kingdom, and they would not have their absolute treasure of a child, Dusty. Now a father himself, Bolide really likes the free-spirited wonder and vigor Dusty seems to throw about wherever he goes. He'd likely do anything for Dusty, and is quite loving and protective of him. Though he's aware that Winifred is far more protective than he is...ever since that button incident...
