A Wraith is a dragon suffering from a genetic disorder caused by a mutation in the dragons DNA. First viewed in a small pack of Mirror dragons close to the Wyrmwound, it was viewed as a gift or curse from the Plaguebringer herself. As hatchlings they resemble their parents and appear to be normal, healthy hatchlings, doing as dragons do at that age. However, when they reach adolescence they begin to physically change. Their wings become thin and transparent, their bodies become dark and bloody in colour with their bones pale and visible beneath the skin.

During the day they have their own minds, their own opinions and behave as usual. However, when the sun goes down and night comes, they transform. Their wings make them appear spectral and their darker bodies allow them to blend with the night shadows. Wraith dragons lose their sense of being and who they are and who their loved ones are when they transform at night. They become bloodthirsty and consumed with a dark, uncontrolled rage. Wraith's are stronger and faster than others of their original species. They will kill anything they hunt down in their vicinity, friends and family included. When the sun comes back and the new day begins, they regain their mind and their memories.
