Ola
Theme Song(s): The Distortionist by GhostandPals; Crossfire by Stephen; Overwhelmed by Royal & the Serpent(https://sta.sh/01bykm5vwr1s for better view)
This is her little brother--
She and Quincy are on a long, long journey to find her parents, who could possibly end the war.
For a bit of background info, her parents are rich god-like dragons who kicked Ola out for simply not understanding the need to hold her head up when she wanted to cry. At a young age. She was maybe six (that's tiny in dragon years) when it happened. But now, if she returns, her ever-so-neat-parents-who-can't-get-their-talons-dirty could finally put their wings down. Or scepter. Or whatever the hell they have to do to not get cloud dust on them. But it's complicated. There's, of course, a war. And, on top of that, her parents decided that all of their children would be failures and discarded their only soon-to-be-son. Now she has to take care of her brother beneath the bloodshed. But Quincy is there to help. He always will be. It's the one thing she knows. Their her two pieces of hope. Maybe just one and a half dragons, but they have her whole heart. Now she cant let them go.
Prolauge
So, this was what it felt like. It -- hurt. Not like she'd tell anyone. Or that it mattered. It didn't, really. But honestly, it was good to be let out of the palace for a bit. The stench of banners washed so often they were bleached with smelly-good stuff was overwhelming. But, nonetheless, she was still out here for work. Wait, no. That's not right. Not work, her parents would never let her lift a claw over a pile of dirt some daring soul brought into the palace. She was here to be taught how to keep a straight face. It was complicated for her, but she still excelled in it. She always, however, was sensitive to light and it makes her head feel like it may break into little egg shards. With a bark and a sudden (and shocking) smack to the face, her head swung to the right. She could feel her cheek swirling with blood that felt like bugs repeatedly jabbing her face. ``OLATATI,`` her instructor shouted. He reared his head, his face and hair as red as the second sun. This was the brother of her mother. Ola's uncle. Not very family-friendly, but still family. ``Can't you ever stay focused? Eyes on the ball.`` He held out his palm which conceived a small tennis-ball-sized orb that grew brighter the longer she stared at it. She squinted slightly, knowing she was not permitted to blink as of now. A strong gaze was a necessary royal trait for controlling her subjects. But the light felt like a magnet, pulling her eyelids shut until eventually they clashed and she turned away. She knew this was her final failure. As a royal, she was only allowed three imperfections. Using the other two on language (which she still cut out her `t's`) and stance. She had cheated on the other six of her infractions. It was simply inevitable. But, now she really didn't matter. She was no longer a piece of the puzzle. Was this was freedom was like? It's lonely. Ola, the royal no longer. But now what? She'd find out in mere seconds, as the slow thinking of her mind halted and she was suddenly in the halls. She did this a lot; unconsciously following commands as if she were conscious, but really she was all in her brain, staring at herself as though she were the puppet master of her own body. The thing is, is that sometimes she didn't feel like it was her looking at her. That's not what she saw. She didn't see herself walking down the halls, someone else did. But, at the same time, she knew nothing else. Oh, she's doing it again. Crap. Now she's here. At the foot of the throne. She looked up, the two blurry figures known as Mother and Father looking down on her. Lips moved, but no words floated to her ears. Or perhaps they did, but just slipped through. Ola looked down at her talons, no longer making an effort to hold a perfect form in the presence of her former family. She felt something smooth conk her head and then fall to the floor. She opened her eyes, and the blurriness of the tears gave way to an egg of gold. Like the other royals. She had visited it once before but was never allowed in more than a few minutes. Her little brother lay at her feet. The window was right there. And suddenly things didn't seem too blurry. And suddenly she was seeing through her own eyes. And her wings felt free. The look in her mothe--no-- the creature's eyes were filled with lightning, but it no longer filled her with panic as she flipped her wings open like whips and flared all they could. She was flying faster than she was permitted, but at this point, she had a purpose. She had a reason. She didn't have rules. Or knowledge of the world. Ola flew free for the first time. Right into a trap.
